nil 1AST NIGHT'S DISPATCHES. LOUISVILLE. FOR CAIRO AMD S.T. LOUIS. p)Kr Tue splendid pacseneor steamer J- ADAMS, ma-ter.

LOC5VILI.E,KBW AU1AJJT, AMD CSI CJLGO KAl-MOAI. SATURDAY MOnSEVO MAY 19. KAILBOAD. OFFICE LOUISVILLE COURIER, I Friday May 17, 1S6L There was nothing new in the money market to-uay. The banks are discounting only in a small way for their regular customers.

Tho demand though is very small, and yfe hear of but little complaint except in the line of collections. The telegiaph to-day announced the fact that the Valley Bauk at Cincinnati had thrown out Kentucky money. Uncurrent money is about the same as reported yesterday. The demand for exchange is small, and rates remain unchanged. In the general maket we have no cbarjgc to note.

Flour is firm, with a fair demand for home consumption. We quote at $5 25(57 25 for superdne to choice family grades. The receipts of wheat are very light, and the market closed firm with an anwfini tendency in rjriees. Tbn ksIpr to Regular Spring Meeting 1861. FIRST DAY-SATURDAY, MAY 18, 1S01.

Wabasli; DEPARTURES. Superior, Cin; Eusone, nendcrson. Tub Kiver was l'ulliug alowly yesterday, with scant nine feet water in the eanI, by the HiarU, in the evening, on the falls, there were six feet steam boat water, the river having l'ulleu six iuches at the head or the folia in the previous 34 hours. The weather continues dry and pleasant, though rather cool yesterday. At 'Cincinnati yesterdav, the river had fallen two feet, but at l'ittsburg it was slowly rising, six feet nine inches water in the channel.

The Cumberland was slightly filling yesterday, though still at high tide. The St. Louis Republican of Thuroday.has the following river news: Tho river hero is slill rising slowly. The swell in the 21 hours ending at 10 o'clockyes-terday morning, amounted to seven inches, and it was then 1 Veet UiK inches above luw water mark iu 1660, according to City EugiHeer's measurement. The Illinois river is about stationary.

The Upper Mississippi continues to rise slowly. The river is rising at the mouth, and very high from Jederson City down. The weather continues tine and cool. Business on the Levee thrre is none worth speaking of perpetual Sunday reigns in the vicinity of the landing. EST" Tho suppression of tho commerce of St.

Louis, at this period, is a terrible blow, which must result disastrously to the city and State. A day of reckoning must come. Oar trade and commerce does not suffer aB severely as that of St. Louis, owing tho fact that the season here of river trade is pretty wcil advanced, while at St. Louis it had just commenced.

We understand that the D. J. Adams Capt. Richer, is atuiu to take thr track bbo is lor St. Louis ncit Tuesday.

The Denmark, Capt, Robinson, is coming round from St. Louis, and is advertised to return to St. Louis naxt Wednesday. Jif" Kentucky river is not yet blockaded oy loreiga the ligut-wmg ed Dove, Capt. Sam Sanders, is advertised for Frankfort, Woodford, Oregon, and Co- gai aiternoon.

Hue stops at all landings along the States of Owen and Henry. Ky1'hc Henderson packets are doing all the business now. The Grey Eagle is the packet this evening. 'J5f The Telegraph No. 3 is tho regular mail and passenger packet for the East today.

She start; at lii o'clock. John Kaine, Capt. Underwood, arrived from New Orleans yesterday, with a fair trip of passengers and alight Ireight. The Autocrat, Capt. Dunham, is due from New Orieauu at 10 o'clock this morning, having passed Evansville yes.cr-day all right, and full of passengers.

John Raine and Autocrat will return to New Orleans if they can get trips. There is au abundance ol produce, provisions, tobacco, and other supplies in warehouses, ready for shipment, but the owners are averse" to letting it be grabbed; by Lincoln's forces, and taking trust or Treasury notes lor pay. minister Chase, in his order to Custom House officers says that ordinary commerce and trade must not he intemii-ted, han-isscd or delayed, thereby giving His graeiuus permission to our boatmen to ruu their boats without iuterruptioD, hut without ffsvjM. That would bankrupt all of tbciu in a feu- trips, and makes their po rUii'ii a little worse than it is at present. The boats ran run as usual, but provisions, hay, com, and all kinds of produce, and and rope arccoutrabaud, and who ever takes any of these is to bu branded traitors, and would be punished as such, if or rule held sway in Kentucky.

Every act of the Administration is lawless, yet the people are uxpeeted quietly to submit to it, and out that nobody is hurt." iyTae Q. Lloyd, awee craft, camo in yesterday from the Wabash, we hear with a load ol corn. We hear that the Louisville, Capt. Hoiicroit, hence lor New Orleans, had p.isscd Cairo with her cargo of tobacco and. hay, though sh3 was four days on the way.

The despatch was from Memphis, from Mr. Troell to his partner, Mr. Duekwall. CVs9 ''he Sunny Soul, li was sold by the United states Marshal at vvnocuug, on Saturday, for to W. W.

Shiver. The A. issisuippi river at points aboo VicUsburg, has been as high this teaon as uwr was known, but below that point and at Memphis it was tully three leet below high water mark, and no fears were entertained of an overilow. Thc Ohio Bello is laid up at tho nwuth of Wolf river, Memphis, and the Mars is converted into a hospital at Camp Rector. Why don't the doughty editors of the Ciuciuuatti Commercial and OaKCtte go down there iu one of their bomb-boats, and recapture those boats In their paper columns they have carried ou a great war of extermination; laid Baltimore in ashes; killed women and children in St.

Louis; recaptured and conquered the whole Valley of Mississippi, and all along its hauks but the Ohio llelle and Mars. Now if they dou't take them, right amy, the people may taink they are only blow ing and gassing. RECEIPTS UV THE RIVER. Embracing only the Leading Ariiclesqf Import. It is seldom they have a like opportunity at trilling a cost, (oaly a dime) and we are sure tliev will avail themselves of it. In the evening they give their last Concert presenting an unusually attractive pro gramme, the Kneass family sustaining prominent part, introducing new songs, quartottej and descriptive pieces.

We do not choose to apply to the Administration in behalf of any applicant for office. ournal. Our neighbor docs not mean to say, we presume, that he has not written directly to Mr. CnASis or other members of the Cabinet, recommending au applicant or applicants for office. If so, we have boon wrongly informed.

Paris Citizen says that the three gentlemen from Bourbon went to the South to purchase arms, have all returned, and were ouly able to obtain some fifty guns. These were purchased in New Orleans, and arrived in Paris safely some days ago. companies of the Firs: Kentucky Regtmeut, under command of Col. W. Hanson, will go into camp in the suburb: of Lexington, on Monday next.

The Kentucky Keglment in Virginia Harper's Jterry. Wo learn from Col. Symmes, who went as Adjutant in Blanton Duncan's regiment that the "boys" who were on Maryland Heights, opposite Harper's Ferry, on guu- day evening ware all well axd in good spirits. The report that the regiment was disorganized is not correct. Some of the men iu one of the companies had proved unruly, and caused trouble for a day or so but under strict discipline, they were de porting themselves liko soldiers.

The cor respondence of the Baltimore Sun has this about the Keutuckians: THE KENTUCKY RIFLEMEN. No visitor to Harper's Ferrv can well fail to have his atteution challenged bv the aiinearance of the Kentusky regiment, not less by the greater frequency witli which its umlorm is seen over any otner man oy the striking appearance of the stalwart and Keeu-cveu men composing n. Batter material for good soldiers, it would seem at a glance, could not be do- sired. Tho men were generally above the ordinary height, stontly framed, and wore upon their countenances au expression ol ready intelligence ana oi resolution wincu conveyed a promise of deeds of heroism whenever the hour of action shall come. The majority of them, as I learned from one of its intelligent members, are from the counties of Western Kentucky, a considerable portion of the remainder hailinir from Louisville.

Their expertness with the rifle is a subject of remark in the camp, and was publicly illustrated one day last week, when at a targtt-liring parado of the regiment five out of every six shots fired hit the mark within a circumference of thirty-six inches. They number about six hundred, are uniformed in bluo woollen hunting-shirts aud trowsers, with sloncbed hats, and are commanded by Col. Blanton Duucau, a "wealthy gentleman of Kentucky. Col. Duncan raised, equipped, aud transported his regiment to Virginia entirely at his own expense.

Tho Keutuckians are armed with Miuic rifles. They are specially detailed to guard the strongly fortified Maryland Heights, the key to the whole postiou. They know it to be the post of danger, and express an eager desire for tho light which they believe is soon to occur. ReportctTExprcKly Courier JEFFERSON CIRCUIT COURT. HON.
