He seems happy at his job, which raises the issue of having spent a lot of money attending college, seemingly for nothing. But reporter Tabitha Soren says that college graduates still make 70 percent more over a lifetime than those who have only a high school tion. The cost of going to college is exaggerated in this report as it is in so many reports done by reporters on the East Coast. Soren tells us that tuition is now $15,000 a year which is about twice what it will cost for room, board and tuition at the University of Kentucky next year.

Perhaps the most discouraging revelation, not only for young people but for many of their parents, is that many companies have no intention of offering full-time jobs with benefits anymore. Manpower, a firm that hires temporary workers, is now the nation's biggest employer, says Soren. And the report does point out in various profiles that some job education beyond high school is necessary. It also indicates that one of the best ways for Generation to get training is in the military, which, while downsizing, is still interested in young adults. TOM DORSEY TV-RADIO CRITIC Walt Disney hands out its annual "Teacher of the Year" awards to 36 men and women across the nation tonight.

Robert Bronger Jr. of South Oldham High School is one of those being honored at 7 o'clock on The Disney Channel (TKR-24). Bronger, who is a health and physical education teacher at the school near Crestwood, was District Coach of the Year in 1993. His application for the Disney award was selected by a national panel of educators. ijHe has won several other honors foircoaching, but the Disney award cites his work as a counselor who has helped students through personal and family crises.

Oldham County teacher wins Disney award Grads and jobs One of the underlying causes of the election blitz that buried Democrats last week reportedly was a belief among Americans that the economy isn't in very good shape no matter what government statistics show. This belief is driven home by an MTV poll revealing that almost 80 percent of people 18- to 24-years-old think the economy is in fair to poor condition. The poll is part of a job special tonight, "Help Not Wanted," at 10 on TKR-37. If you're going to be a high school or college graduate in the next year, this is a downbeat, almost depressing program, but worth watching as a warning. It's true that the job market isn't good for young adults right now, but the program indulges in overkill by using newsreels from the Great Depression showing people going hungry and homeless.

The program also misfires when it profiles a young woman who had a job as a clerk at United Parcel Service. While it wasn't exactly the position she had in mind when she was struggling through four years of l2llm3 Sisters ABC takes "Sister, Sister" off the shelf tonight at 8. It replaces Ed Asner's "Thunder Alley," which will be back in the spring. "Sister, Sister" is a sitcom about twin sisters separated as infants who are reunited as teen-agers. It stars Tim Reid as one single parent and Jackee Harry as the other.
