He was retired from a heating and air conditioning service. folk heroes and political issues. Ailey's 79 ballets have appeared in the repertoires of companies including the Joffrey Ballet the American Ballet Theatre, the Paris Opera Ballet and the London Festival Ballet Ailey also staged or choreographed for operas including Samuel Barber's "Anthony and Cleopatra" and Leonard Bernstein's "Mass." In 1988, Ailey received Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime achievement in the performing arts. He held numerous awards among them the NAACP's Spingarn Medal and the United Nations Peace Medal and honorary doctoral de 'Spring St The family's candy earned praise from customers, many of whom traveled more than 100 miles to buy it In the Dallas Morning News called Schlmpffs cherry cordials "the best chocolate-covered cherries ff Schimpff we ever had." Survivors: a son, Charles Brown; a niece, Evelyn Owens, who cared for hen four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. at age 58 grees, including one from Princeton University. Another death: Goran Jarvefelt, 42, one of Sweden's most promising opera directors, of cancer on Thursday. Jarvefelt who was suffering from a brain tumor, had established himself at leading operas such as the New York Metropolitan, the Ko-mische in East Berlin and the Paris Opera. In 1974, he directed his first opera in Vadstena in southern Sweden.
