Retired Chief Episcopal Bishop Dies From AP and UP1 Dispatches BETHEL, Vt. The Rt. Rev. Arthur Lichtenberger, 68, retired presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church of the United States, died at his summer home yesterday. He was presiding bishop from 1958 to 1964, when he resigned, because of ill health.

Since that had been a visiting professor at the Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, Mass. He was also bishop of the Diocese of Missouri from 1951 until his election as Born presiding in shoconsinshe was graduated from Kenyon College in Ohio and the Episcopal Theological School at Cambridge. He was made a deacon in 1925 and served as a missionary in China for two years. Other deaths: Jim Nance McCord, 89, a former Tennessee governor who had been active in state and national politics for over 40 years; in Nashville. He was elected governor in 1944 and served two terms.

Victor Young, 79, a pianist, composer and conductor; at Ossining, N.Y. He composed the scores for early sound movies as musical director of the Edison Phonograph Laboratory from 1919 to 1927. Southern Indiana Deaths NEW ALBANY-Mrs. Laura Mathis Wheat, 58, died Tuesday. The body is at the Paul V.

The body will be at the Kraft Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Suspect Wounded By Officer Dies A 25-year-old Louisville man, wounded by police while fleeing the scene of an alleged break-in Aug. 21, died at 4 p.m. yesterday at General Hospital.

Chief Deputy Coroner William Anderson said that Robert L. Eddie, of the 4400 block of Del Park Terrace, died of pneumonia contracted as a result of a gunshot wound in the back. Police said Eddie was wounded in the back and right arm by Patrolman Donald Jaggers, who was answering a burglary alarm at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Pendennis Club.

Eddie, William D. Fisher, 24, of the 800 block of S. 20th, and Ronnie Gibson, 25, of the 3500 block of DuValle Drive, were all charged with safebreaking, possession of burglary tools and three counts of armed robbery. A fourth man escaped as officers arrived, police said. Bus Overturns, Killing 7 MEXICO CITY (AP) A passenger, bus overturned and tumbled into a ravine yesterday near the village of Topilejo, killing at least seven occupants and injuring 31.

Eddie Moore, 82, of 2719 W. Jefferson, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at Louisville Memorial Hospital, He was a native of Henderson, Ky. Survivors include a brother, Luke Moore, Henderson. The funeral will be at 2 p.m.

Thursday at R. G. May Funeral Home, 719 E. Chestnut, with burial in Louisville Cemetery. Lyle E.

Koontz, 54, of 6882 Dixie Highway, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday at General Hospital. A steamfitter, he was a native of Monticello, Ky. Survivors include his widow, the former Marvandean Puckett; a son, Lyle Dean Koontz, and three grandchildren. The funeral will 10 a.m.

Friday at W. G. Hardy Shively Funeral Home, 4101 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens. The body will be at the funeral home after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Miss Clarissa Curley died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Mary Elizabeth Hospital. She formerly lived at The Puritan. She retired 10 years ago after 30 years as a bookkeeper for Southern Bell Telephone Telegraph Co.

She is survived by a sister, Sister Aquinas, Nazareth, Ky. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Bertrand Church, 1104 S. Sixth, with burial in St.

Louis Cemetery. The body will be at Dougherty and Son, 1118 S. Third, after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs.

Bertha Carrico Cook, the former Bertha Landers, 81, died Tuesday afternoon at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Clarksville, Ind. She lived at 2808 Thistlewood Dr. Mrs. Cook was a native of Shelby County, and was a member of Portland Church of Christ. Survivors include four sons, George, Marvin, William and James Cook; a daughter, Mrs.

Sally Hardison; 22 grandchildren 29 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dunn Memorial Funeral Home, 518 N. 26th with burial in Portland Cemetery. The body will be at 1 the funeral home after 11 a.m.

Wednesday. Michael 0. Bradford, 58, of 338 E. Kentucky, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Veterans Hospital.

He a machine operator for Krish Dry Cleaners and was a member of Jefferson Post 15 of the American Legion. Survivors include his widow, the former Margaret Dick. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Catholic Church of Our Lady, 3511 Rudd, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be Ratterman's, 2114 W.

Market, after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Glenn C. Harris, 57, of 3134 River Park Drive, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday at General Hospital.

He was a native of Washington Court House, Ohio. Survivors include his widow, the former Annie K. Barham; two daughters, the Misses Glenda and Fay Harris, and a son, Gary Harris. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at A.

D. Porter Sons Funeral Home, 1300 W. Chestnut, with burial in Eastern Cemetery. Mrs. Louis Zweydoff, 73, of 237 S.

Western Parkway, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at Jewish Hospital. The former Anna M. Nordhoff, she retired in 1961 afer 52 years as a department supervisor for the P. Lorillard Tobacco Co.

She was a native of Dubois, Ind. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Wilhelmina Boyle; one The grandchild funeral and five, great 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Columba Catholic Church, 3514 W.

White, 87, of 1579 Parsons Place, died Monday at Heritage House Nursing Home, 3535 Bardstown Road. The body is at Barrett Funeral Home, 1230 Bardstown Road. Miss Esther Lee Martin, 39, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at her home, 433 S. 20th.

She was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Ky. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Mary Ellis, and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Granger, Mrs. Mary Anderson, Mrs.

Hallie Barber and Mrs. Alice Owen. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at G. C.

Williams Funeral Home, 1935 W. Broadway, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. The funeral for Cpl. Roger Earl Bishop will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at SS.

Simon Jude Catholic Church, 4335 Hazelwood, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Cpl. Bishop, 21, was killed in action in Vietnam August 25. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Earl T. Bishop of 1416 Oakwood Avenue. The body will be at Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor after 10 a.m. Wednesday. William R.

Fisher, 55, of 12301 Dixie Highway, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday at Ireland Army Hospital, Ft. Knox, Ky. A master sergeant, he retired from the army in 1963. Survivors include a brother, Russell Fisher, Baltimore, Md.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Arch L. Heady Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor with burial in Ft. Knox Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 3 p.m.

Mr. Lay, 50, of 8505 Bambi Way, was killed Monday when his truck collided with a station wagon on Preston Highway near Mount Washington Road. The body is at Foreman Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road. Mrs. Gladys B.

Griffin, 40, of 1050 E. Liberty, died at 4 a.m. Sunday at General Hospital. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Survivors include her parents, Mr.

Funeral, 2 p.m. Thursday, Upton Baptist Church. The body is at Sego Funeral Home here. Robert Lee Curry, 37, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday at his residence, 4139 W.

Market. He managed the Vocational Prescription Service a at 203 E. 18th, New Albany. He was a member of the Lewis Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Kosair Shrine, and the West Louisville United Church of Christ. He is survived by his mother, Mrs.

Ann Curry, and a son, Kevin Lee Curry, of Arlington, Tex. funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Schoppenhorst Brothers Funeral Home, 1832 W. Market, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Joseph J. McDonough, the former Josephine Kuchenbrod, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday at the Heritage House Nursing Home, 3535 Bardstown Road. She was 86 and lived at 2434 W.

She lived at 1254 Rufer. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church and was a native of St. Louis. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Attry Due and Mrs. Lape Thorne, both of Cincinnati.

Albert Charles Elder, 67, of 4406 S. Second, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, The at SS. former Mary Kathryn Elizabeth Greusling, Hospital. she was a member of Beechmont Woman's Club and Central Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, James A. Elder, North Little Rock, and a grandson. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Louis B. Miller Son Funeral Home, 4505 S.

Third, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Mrs. Herschel Stevenson, the former Ethel May, Martin, 60, died Tuesday afternoon Jewish Hospital. She lived at 2721 Gilligan. She was a native of Henry County.

Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Claude K. Martin and William C. Martin; and a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Branch. The funeral will be at 11 a.m.

Robert Shofner died at 12:15 Tuesday at Methodist Evangelical Hospital. She lived at 3822 Fitzgerald Road. Mrs. Shofner, 62, was the former Artie Campbell. A native of Grayson County, she was a member of the Bright Star Chapter of the Eastern Star and of the Chapel Park Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James Norris, of Wurzburg, Germany; Mrs. Richard Nunn, and Mrs. Robert Harrell; one son, Robert B. Shofner 13 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Owen Suburban Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Garden. Theodore A. Brumleve, 72, of 1075 E.

Kentucky, died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Hospital. He was a retired assembly line employe for the Shuler Axle Co. after 31 years service.

Survivors include a son, Theodore E. Brumleve; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Ruff and Mrs. Walter Kimpflein; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 9 a.m.

and Mrs. Anthony Bacher, of Shepherdsville, was fatally injured in a two car collision, in which five other persons were also injured, Sunday night near Evansville, Ind. Hardware Dealer, W. F. Stockhoff, Dies; Rites Today William F.

Stockhoff, a Louisville hard. ware store owner and operator for more than 50. years before his retirement in 1962, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday at Methodist Evangelical Hospital. He lived at 2140 Bonnycastle.

He was 76. He was the third generation his family to operate Stockhoff's Hardware Store, which was located at the time of his retirement at 426 E. Market. The store is now located at 919 E. Jefferson and is operated by his son-in-law, James B.

Hayden. Stockhoff was an Army veteran of World War I and was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church and the Louisville Businessmen's Club. Survivors include his widow, the former Rose Adele Weitzel; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley S.

Kinney, Mrs. James B. Hayden and Mrs. Albert S. Phillips; and nine grandchildren.
