2. The Court of Appeals refused Fri day to block construction of a 50-unit municipal housing proj- ect for Negroes in a predomi- nantiy white section of southeast Mayfield. A group of white citizens of the area sought to stop the Mayfield Housing Commission. It said the development would be segregated, in violation of recent rulings of the United States Supreme Court. The appellate court rejected the petition for the reason that the housing project, if it is to be segregated, is still only in the planning stage.

At Mayfield, it was said the ruling apparently clears the way for two federal housing projects costing a total of $2 000.000. The mlin? affirmed a de- cision last May a Dy urcuit Judge Elvis J.
