There are about 2,200 members in this group. 3. The original co-operative would retain about 6,500 members in Fleming, Mason, Lewis, and parts of Bath, Nicholas, Robertson, Bracken, and Rowan Counties.

Headquarters would remain at Flemingburg. C. J. Ross is manager of the Fleming-Mason Co-operative. He was formerly president of the board of directors.

Kentucky's largest electric cooperative Fleming-Mason Rural Electric Co-operative Corporation will be divided into three parts. The action was taken by the co-operative's members today at their annual mesting, according to Frank Hinton, president.

Hinton explained the three-way partition, which will take about six months to accomplish, was suggested by the in order to bring the headquarters nearer the consumers and thus inake operations less cumbersome. The division is planned this way: 1. Organization of new cooperative which will continue P.S.C. Authorizes 115.000 Price Frankfort, Aug. 4 JP) The Jackson Purchase Rural Electric Co-cperative, Paducah, was authorized today to buy the electric plant at Calvert City for $115,000.

The plant, owned by L. A. Solomon, serves about 800 customers. A controversy developed last year before the Public Service Commission when the co-op and the Kentucky Utilities Company both sought to buy the Solomon property. The P.S.C.

later denied the K. U. application and opened the way for the co-op to negotiate the purchase. The commission also authorized the Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative, Glasgow, to borrow $600,000 from the Federal Government to build 282 miles qf line to serve 1,000 new customers. Mrs John H. Payne, 424 Marret, Held In Killing Page Hemphill, 59, former City policeman, was held to the grand jury on a murder charge in Municipal Court yesterday as the result of an early morning shooting in a rooming house at 1724 W. Ormsby. Police said Hemphill shot a rifle and killed James Butler, 23, one of a group of persons having "a party" at the rooming house. Hemphill and Butler, both Negroes, roomed in the place.
