The association's house of delegates, meeting in Cincinnati, gave final approval to the prepaid plan which was prepared for presentation a month ago by a special K.M.A. committee. Dr.

Bruce Underwood, association secretary and State health commissioner, could not say hpw soon the plan will go into effect because establishment of it will take some time. The plan, sponsored by the medical profession and not run for profit, will pay a specific amount of cash for every tjrpe of surgical operation and for time spent in hospitals. The highest benefit will be $150 a year for surgery plus $15 for X-ray and $15 for anesthesia. Premium rates have not been set, Dr. Underwood said.

There have been two proposals, however. One calls for a monthly premium of $1 for single persons and $2 for couples with dependents. The other rale, believed to be "more sound actuarially," would be 90 cents for single persons, $1.90 for m.m and wife and $2.20 monthly for couples with children. Also included in the plan is provision for paying the subscriber $3 a day for time spent in the hospital after the first three days 14) to a maximum of $81 a year. This would cost 25 cents extra a month under the proposals made a month ago.
