Missouri Rent Plea Denied Washington, Jan. 8 (P) A recommendation for a IS per cent increase in rents in the Missouri portion of, the St. Louis defense-rental area was turned down today by Housing Expediter Tighe Woods. The recommendation was made by the Rent Advisory Board for the area on the ground there has been a general increase in operating costs and taxes. Housing' Expediter Woods said he had no evidence linking these increased operating costs and taxes generally to current operating position as compared with past years.

He said such data is required to substantiate a recommendation for a boost in rent. He added the board's recommendation does 'S'ery clearly show" a need for individual adjustments for landlords in the area who are suffering substantial hardship because of increased property taxes or operating costs.
