Soybeans and corn paced the market, as they have done during all the, recent "weather Soybeans rose 10 cents, the daily limit.

December and March corn gained 8 cents, the daily limit for that grain, at one time but slipped a little before the close. Wheat closed 1 to higher, corn 3X2-6V2 higer, oats l'2-2i higher, rye 3''4-334 higher, soybeans 97s to 10 cents higher and lard 35 to 55 cents a hundred pounds higher. Heat Rains Fifth Of Potato Crop By Fedaral-State Market News Service At least 20 per cent of the 700-to 800-acre Jefferson-0 1 a county potato crop this year was ruined because of sun-scald, Lawrence Frick, manager of the St. Matthews Supply Company, estimated yesterday. The company ships most of the local crop.

Frick said the sun-scald resulted from record-high temperatures recently which cooked the potatoes in the ground. He said the scald was hard to detect until after they were harvested but it can be detected now by a dark brown stain. Most farmers are leaving such potatoes in the field, he said. Potatoes brought $3.50 to $4 on the market yesterday, wholesalers said, and farmers received $3.25 a hundred with bags furnished. Shipments of other produce on the Louisville market yesterday was light.

Tomatoes sold steady to slightly lower than last Friday at $3 to $4 a half hushel. according to quality. Egg plant brought $4.50 to $5 a bushel and okra was scarce and no price quotations were obtained from wholesalers. Green beans sold for mostly $3.50 a bushel but no pole beans were reported. Wholesale prices on other home-grown produce on the Louisville market yesterday included: white corn, $2.25 to $3 a bushel; yellow.
