One hundred thirty-four Kentucky, school districts are employing estergency teachers this year, compared with tJ at the end of the 188MJ school term. The State Department of Education aaid yesterday that 68 of the state's 200 school districts have not hired emergency teachers so far. The number of emergency teachers has increased from a record low of 780 last year to about MOO.

While the number of emergency ers increased, so did the number of qualified teachers, the department said. The total teaching staff increased from 28,374 in the public schools last year to an estimated 29,500 this year. The department aaid continued improvement wu ahown in the regular qualified teachers staff with more teachers obtaining master's degrees or other training. One-third of the state's high school teachers now have mater's degrees or higher, the department said. An emergency teacher is one without a college degree or teacher preparation training, both of which are minimum requirements for fully qualified teachers.

An emergency teacher must have St least 88 semester hours and nine hours in the subject he teaches. I Errors Delay Some Payments For Medicare Some Medicare payments have been delayed because applicants did not include the necessary information with their claims, Icon Wilson, district director of the Social Security Admlnlatration in Louisville, said yesterday. These applicants are principally older people who have paid doctor bills but have not been reimbursed because of errors in filling out forms. A doctor's statement showing treatment given and charges already paid by a patient must be furnished either on the request for reimbursement or in a separate receipted bill, Wilson said. He said his office has volunteered to check such claims before they are mailed to the insurance firm.

In Kentucky, Medicare doctor bill Insurance ia handled by Metropolitan Life Insurance which has headquarters In Lexington. Son, Daughter Share In $875,000 Estate The bulk of the $873,000 estate of Mrs. Sadie M. Francis, 818 W. Ormsby, has been left equally to her aon, John C.
