Barbourville, May 15. Sponsored by the Junior Study Club, Barbourville's eighteenth annual May festival will be held Saturday on the Union College campus. Thousands of visitors from Kentucky's mountain area are expected here for the ball and the parade of floats, bands and clubs. The club, composed of twenty young women, hopes to raise funds from the balloting to permit it to continue its aid to the underprivileged. Last year the club made it possible for fifty-five underprivileged city school pupils to have 60,000 noon lunches.

SHawnee 3037 Lynch, May 15 UP) Sheriff Herbert Cawood reported about 800 shots were fired at miners they prepared to leave work Thursday afternoon at the International Harvester Company mine at Benham. Cawood, accompanied by three highway patrolmen, said he inspected the scene after the fusillade, but found no signs of bloodshed. Bargaining Election Held.
