A28 lllSUNDAY, AUGUST 10, 2014 KY THE COURIER-JOURNALlll DEATHS MARKING JAMES 92, passed away Saturday August 9, 2 014 at his residence with his family by his side. He was a retired for U.S. Naval Ordnance and a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of St. Pete the Friendship Club and St.

Lively Hearts. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Ann Marking and his granddaughter Lorie Ann Marking. He is survived by his sons, James H. Jr. (Frankie), Steven M.

(Rebecca), David and Donald J. (Becky) Marking; 6 Grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. His funeral Mass will be Tuesday 11 a.m. August 12, 2014 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5431 Johnsontown Rd.

Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Monday from 2- 8 p.m. and afte 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Ratterman Grand Chapels 4832 Cane Run Road. Expressions of sympathy to: Food for the Poor.

MCARTHUR THELMA 83, died August 4, 2014, www.NewcomerKentuckiana.com. MCCAIN BESSIE MAE MALONE, 89, was called home to be with her Savior on August 4, 2014. She was a member of Greater Galilee Baptist Church. She leaves two great-nieces to cherish her memory, Brandi Renee Miles and Shawntell Shannae Miles; her siblings, Lucille Petty and Loretta Gregory and Robert Malone; and a host other relatives and friends. He is thankful to be removed from the pettiness and squalor of human existence and from the need for daily complaints about the crass airheads that pass themselves off as congressmen and senators. A graduate of St. Catherines College at Oxford, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War era and had worked as a travel agent for over 30 years. In accordance with his express wishes, the body of the deceased is being donated to the University of Louisville School Medicine for medical research.

The loved brother of Margaret and brother-in-law of Lothar and loved and respected uncle of Dirk has now found his peace. We shall not forget him. Navy World War II veteran and manager of Bell South Telephone Co. for 41 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion Pos Masonic Lodge in Harlan, KY, and charter member of Woodhaven Country Club. He was an elder at the Meadowview Presbyterian Church, a watercolor artist, and avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his rst wife, Thelma Carr Metcalf; and sisters, Doris and Alleene Ted is survived by his wife of 30 years, Virginia Metcalf; sons, Theodore Metcalf II (Mirjam) and Gary Metcalf (Linda); stepsons, Douglas Noel (Ginny) and Gary Noel (Barbara); 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at Highlands. Expressions of sympathy may be made to his church, or Kosair Hospital.

Carl was a former employee of Brown and Williamson (Louisville) and retired from Philip Morris (North Carolina).

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Marie Pierce; and grandson, Christian Alexander Thompson. Carl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma Higdon Pierce; children, Patrick Pierce, Connie Joyce (Chris), Phyllis Downs, Carol Thompson (Tony), Pam Morton; siblings, Raymond Pierce (Mel), Barbara Aubrey, Janet White, John Pierce, Alma Embry (Kenny), George Pierce (Betty), Donnie Pierce; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. LEE 67, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Hosparus Inpatient unit downtown, with her family by her side. Lee greeted everyone with a warm cheerful smile and a positive attitude in spite of her many health challenges over the last 5 years. This special lady will be fondly remembered by he many friends and forever missed by her family. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mary Mulligan; and her sister, Sheila Mulligan. She worked fo South Central Bell as an operator supervisor and was a sales manager for Tupperware. She was a membe of Garrs Lane United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for the bell ringers, American Legion Post 220 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Excel Club. Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Louis F. Quaack, daughters, Mary Wagner (Dave) and Allyson Skaggs; sons, Freddie Quaack (Pam) and David Quaack (Bev); sisters Marian Wagenest, Sally Brown, and Nancy Quaack; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. RIZZO 64, of Louisville, passed away peacefully Saturday August 2, 2014 at the University Louisville Hospital with his family by his side. Donald was an Associate Vice President for Development at the University of Louisville, and a member for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). He was the recipient the 2010 CCS Award for Outstanding Fundraising Professional, presented by the AFP. Donald was also a member of the National Society Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE). Donald worked at a variety of institutions, including the University of Louisville, University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Butler University, Loyola University, and the Claremont Graduate School.

He was the devoted husband of 36 years to his wife, Jane E. (Davis) Rizzo, and a loving father to his two children, Adam Davis Rizzo and Kendall Canavan Rizzo of MA. The family has requested private services through Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Louisville, KY, 40207. The family requests that any memorials be made in the form of a donation in his name, Donald G. Rizzo, to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville, KY.

SACKSTEDER EDWARD J. was born January 12, 1941 in Louisville and died August 8, 2014. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Ed worked fo Eastman Chemical Company for 33 years, with positions in Tennessee and Michigan.

After retiring, Ed moved to North Port, FL. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Pfaadt of North Port, daughter Deborah (Troy) von Kutzleben of Atlanta, Georgia, son Daniel (Robin) of Osprey, Florida and his beloved grandchildren Dylan Sacksteder of Osprey, Ava and Brandt von Kutzleben of Atlanta. Ed was a devoted Catholic and a membe of St. Church, Kingsport, TN for 32 years and a member of San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port since 2008. A memorial Mass will be held August 16, 2014 at at San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port and inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Louisville on August 23, 2014 at 11am.

SR 81 of Louisville passed away Thurs- ay, August 7, 2014. He was a Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Seadler, his children, Tony Seadler (Debbie), Becky Nelson (Ronnie), Tim Seadler, Pamela Corley (James), Keith Seadler, Arnold Seadler (Andrea), sixteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brother, James Seadler and a sister, Bertha Goss. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison at Barret Avenues with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky. He graduated from Yale, UVA, and Iowa State and served as captain in the United States Army, Ted practiced otology at the House Institute, L.A., and was a contributing develope of surgical techniques: Stapendectomy and Cochlear implant.

He was a master sailor, boat builder, furniture maker, world traveler, photographer and farmer and a 25-year volunteer fo the Boy Scouts. Ted is survived by his wife, Pamela; daughter, Elizabeth; son, Thor; grandson, Ari; son-in-law, Jacob Scholl and daughter-in-law Nora Hersey. She was a devoted military wife and a faithful member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC).

She was a membe of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and was an avid bridge player. She was a graduate of the Illinois Institute Technology and attended graduate programs at Kentucky State University and Howard University. She was a retired home economics teache from Jefferson County Public Schools. Preceding her in death were her husband, Col.

Eugene F. Tyree, USAF Retired; her parents, Ben Jessie and Annie Maddox McDaniel; aun and parents, Rev. Louis C. and Johnnie P. Taylor; sisters, Odessa and Hazel Brooks.

She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Talbott (Clyde) and Carla Curry (A. Frazier); grandchildren, Karin Talbott-Hill, Tracey Talbott Jackson (John), and Stacy Curry Shipman (John); great-grandchildren, Courtney Hill Jones (Antaeus), Sydney Jackson, Jonathan Curry, Shelby Jackson, and Symone Jackson; great-great- granddaughter, Alexus Jones. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends with whom she shared many good times.
